It was my bright idea to take Jaden to Midwest Kids Fest today at the Rivercenter. Jesse really doens't like going to places where there are crowds of kids - or actually, just crowds in general. But I talked him into it. It's $4.95 per person and it's all about kids. What kid on earth wouldn't have fun with facepainting, pony rides, kids bands, inflatable jumpers, costumed characters and such? Mine. What the heck? I guess the melting down started while waiting in line after line just to enter the place. Once inside, we waited in line for the inflatable jumper slide for about 30 minutes only to get to the front of the line where there was a sign on the FLOOR saying that children have to be a minimum of 4 years old to go on it. Um, OK, the kicking and screaming had long since begun. Now what? Well, after regrouping, we did pony rides - that was going fine. Searched out the ballons and after finding them, Jaden decided he wanted his balloon to go "...way up high..." so he let it go and then cried because we couldnt get it back from the 500 foot ceiling. That's pretty much the gist of it. I think you get the picture. Of the thousand people in the place, Jesse pointed out later that Jaden was the only kid crying in the place. Other kids were having fun. Actually, we did see one other little girl having a tantrum and hitting her mom in the face, so there were two of us. I did have one really cool experience, but I will tell you about that later. Here are the pics of Jadey having "fun" at MWKF.
